Shirdi Sai Temple in Hampi, India

This Is Not A Circus Ride!

When out riding around on my motorbike near Hampi, a French friend and I happen to come upon this place.  I didn’t have a clue what it was but I waved Frenchy to pull in and check it out.  We parked the bikes and up to this point I actually thought it was some kind of Indian circus ride or something.  As we approached the entrance a few old Indian women were sitting in the shade as you entered.  They just looked up at us and smiled then went back to the veggies they were pealing.

We wondered what was on the inside, so Frenchy and I walked in only to find out it was another temple (although colorful and different).  The inside wasn’t as inpressive as the outside, so after 3 total minutes inside we walked out.  We happened to see a few kids playing outside and they asked us for a photo.  One was a little girl, maybe 8-9 years old, she had the most beautiful green/emerald eyes the size of half dollars that just shinned.  I think Frenchy said something to the affect of “Hey man, in 15 years I’m coming back here and going to marry that girl!”.  Sorry to report the photo of her I took wasn’t that good but this one was a fun one.  It’s not something you will see in India everyday and it was brand new!

Oh I guess I should mention that the building is in the shape of a lotus flower, which is Sai Baba’s symbol of sorts and helps explain it’s oddness a little.

Oh my, I didn’t see this in Hampi! Where in the world was it?

It’s between the train station (the town you arrived in) and the road to Hampi somewhere on the right.  You can’t miss it! :)

Ah, no wonder, I was wondering how I could have missed it, seeing as it’s the most colorful temple Hampi’s got.

I bypassed the train and only took buses!  Beautiful colors!
