Jaisalmer & It’s One Hit Fort
Not long ago a 1/4 of the population of Jaisalmer lived inside the fort. Since then they have been trying to move families outside the fort but it’s just about impossible unless someone is willing to buy them all new homes, which isn’t going to happen in India from what I gather. Jaisalmer is the only fort in India where people reside permanently inside.
I got this photo because I befriended a kid walking around outside the fort. He wanted to show me his city but what he really wanted was me to drink with him. I thought it over and decided “Why not, when in Rome” right? He had a motorcycle so I said I would buy the beers if he provided the transport, which he was completely down for. I told him I just wanted to see the whole fort at night somewhere, so we jumped on his bike, stopped off at a store and picked up a few liters of beer and headed to a hill top that he said would be perfect. I shot this photograph without a tripod but I found a new secret spot for when I come back though… all for the cost of a beer!
