Good Light Bad Light

I really can’t remember where I took this photograph in India but I liked it enough to share with you because:

  1. The old mans expression was perfect.  A nice quinine smile!
  2. To show you what a foot forward or backwards can make in your photographs.
  3. To show you what not to do when shooting street photography!

So I guess what I am saying is that this photo is crap because I didn’t ask him to move forward to back to get even light on his face.  Yeah you can say the shot looks great, cool, whatever but it would have been 10x better if I had asked him to move a little.  These are things you need to be thinking about when out shooting.  Light is the key when taking portraits and in this example I failed to notice the light when I snapped the shutter and walked off.

    Great shot still.  Odds are that had he complied and moved, his expression would have changed, and not been as natural…
