He might have only been 8 years old but he had enlightenment of a monk
When staying in Pokhara, Nepal I wanted to visit some Buddhist monasteries and ask if it would be ok to photograph some of the monks in a portrait like setting. I went out with a man who knew monks at the oldest monastery in Pokhara and said he would be glad to take me there to ask.
We showed up and talked to an administrator who said it would be no problem. Man I love monks, their giving and very helpful when approached right. I asked if I could have 3 people willing to pose for my camera. One of them was this young monk who was in training and although he didn’t say much, he was a great model. He got a kick out of getting photographed and seeing his photo on the LCD screen on my camera. I’m finding that the best models I have ever photographed have been monks… maybe that should say something!
