Varanasi, India is the holiest place for all Hindus and is a mecca as well for tourist. Poverty is everywhere and if you’re not ok with paying money for photos Varanasi can be tough at times. I normally don’t pay and will just walk away from a photo instead but this time I didn’t. Before I could even think about it I had the money out of my pocket (maybe $0.50 USD) and was handing it to him. Before I released it though I motioned to the camera for a photo. He just nodded and looked straight at the lens. I snapped a few shots, said thank you and walked on.
