American artist, Jim Denevan takes the ordinary and turns it into a visual scene, best viewed from an aerial perspective. All of his work is temporary, thus returning back to nature as it was before. He enjoys this aspect of his work and doesn’t fight it.
He doesn’t use measurements when creating his work, which is an achievement in itself because the only way to fully view his creations is from above. He uses mostly simple tools when constructing them, items like sticks or vehicle tracks, to make the depressions into the earth.
He also holds the world record for the largest art piece ever, which was built on Lake Baikal in Siberia and commissioned by The Anthropologist. His work has also appeared main stream, like Robbie Williams video “Angels“.
My Thoughts:
There is something about his work that I personally just find captivating and catch myself clicking through to the next photograph more and more. I highly respect anyone who can create something so visual out of something so simple. Anything that he uses is readily available to anyone in the world but it takes an artiest like him to see the full potential in what it offers.
