Cuban Cars From the 50′s: Part 1

cars-in-cuba

One of the best things about going to Cuba was getting to see all the 1950 era cars roaming the streets.  It was like going to a car show everyday!  When the US enacted the embargo in 1960 the first thing to be cut off from Cuba was the automative industry.  There are now imports from Japan for cars in Cuba but one can still find plenty of American 50-era cars still running.  I’m not sure how they keep them running or where they get parts for the cars (these cars are over 50+ years old) but somehow they keep them going.

That’s what I call a cruising car. It’s engine is fast enough for the city but not for the track or other competitions. It’s a car that’s meant to make the owner look incredibly stylish. There is an auto parts Manchester store that do the restoration work on such pieces of machinery.
