The third post on the wedding and next to the bride the most important…food and drinks! They served a 4 course meal with some 15+ servers walking around. When you sat down you had in front of you 6 glasses ready to be filled with your desire; red or white vino (or both), gas water (carbonated water which I just can’t get used to), liquor, beer or juice. The meal was great as they started with fish and vegetables, followed up with a fruit sorbet, then the main dish (shown below) which tasted wonderful and for dessert they severed an ice cream strawberry mix on top of a tart candy.
Now the best part…the drinks! Cervezas, more vino and Johnnie Walker as much as you could drink. They had 5-6 little mini-bars set up on stands with a waiter ready to pour you a drink when you got about 1/2 empty. The reception started at about 1:30 pm and when we left it was about 10 pm.
On a side note: I ended up driving that night because I was the sober one (I know some of you are laughing at this and don’t believe). Lucy’s papa got a little happy happy talking with Johnnie Walker and wasn’t in the best shape for driving. Lucy doesn’t drive much and her mama and sis don’t at all…so she asked me. So let’s think about this for a second and just weigh the pro’s and con’s out:
Con’s:
- I don’t have a license to drive in Ecuador
- It’s night and I don’t know the way home
- The roads have sharp cruves and 100ft drop offs
- It’s 45min away
- I haven’t driven before in Ecuador
- …did I menetion I didn’t have a license either???
Pro’s:
- I’m sober
- I’m a man
- Good time to impress the family with my driving skills
Yeah so in the end I made the drive home, everyone arrived safely and I only hit 3 lamas and 2 dogs (joking)!
